Planting Fields Arboretum Engagement Session with Jeremy & Shawna
Recently I had the pleasure on photographing Jeremy & Shawna at the wonderful Planting Fields Arboretum Engagement Session. It was a wonderful , pretty windy and chilly day . We were actually speaking about the weather thinking that the winter season was creeping up on us again . The winter in NY was brutal so I guess that was a great way to start our conversation COLD :). Well I actually met Jeremy & Shawna through another couple of ours Joe & Cornelia at the Sands in Lido beach .
Since the first time Shawna & Jeremy visited our office in March I noticed one thing about them , their unique understanding for each other . Jeremy just has this way about him that calm Shawna and makes her giggle. And that same calm and cool attitude really gave me amazing angles, laughs, and pretty much every single moment that you see in the images below.
I did not do too much on this one because they had a great way about them. Sarcasm, jokes, and smiles were part of our day. Thats one thing I love about Engagement photo sessions, you really do get to know each-other (PHOTOGRAPHER / CLIENT) on a personal level and start to connect on a deeper understanding. Shawna decided to wear a beautiful yellow summer dress , although it was a bit chilly .
Jeremy was wearing a nice light blue button down . It was a semi-casual photo session but We took sometime to speak and also explore planting fields especially since they never heard of it nor ever visited this wonderful preserve. They were really impressed with the grounds how well it was maintained and we actually set a few photos were I kept mentioning this joke ” Come inside our home ” or ” Welcome home “.
It was funny because this automatically started the bench comment. They did not notice that most of the items that were donated on the premises had name plaques on them .
So Jeremy says ” Imagine you show up to this specific spot and the owner of the bench says get off my bench, which in fact any normal person would reply “does it have your name on it ? , It sure does , look here ” . This was a good laugh . I guess you had to be there to understand it .
Then we decided to do a few walking shot moments , this was pretty awesome , As I took a look at the wonderful grounds and thankful that they decided to choose the planting fields arboretum engagement session location I could not stop shooting capturing all these little moments that Shawna & Jeremy were creating between themselves.. They were just perfect for each other and they were really living this moment . As we explored this wonderful overcast day we finally reached the fountains . I told them that I went swimming in there a few years back not seeing the sign ( It was a joke ). But I really did go in there and took this really cool photo (don’t worry I took my shoes and socks off , anything for the shot ). As we approach the back end of the pool we took a few photos by the Hobbit house (Jeremy’s Idea , lol ).
Then we took a little stroll towards the back of the castle and did a couple of cool inspirational poses that Shawna had in mind . There was one particular photo which I loved. Their hands had to be together and form a heart. We did our best but I noticed at this very moment the sun decided to visit us so I took this opportunity and the photo came out great .
The old rustic door at the Planting Fields Arboretum is really something I never want to avoid. So we traveled to the back of the castle and took a few photos leaning up against it .
Our last shot was right before we exited . The sun decided to peak out on a patch of pushes so I asked them to enjoy each other’s company and I waited for the exact moment to capture.
What a great success at the planting fields arboretum engagement session location .
This was truly an incredible engagement session and I’m really looking forward to their wedding at the Chateau Brian Cateres . See you soon and thank you for having me there.
